No wonder...
Malaysians generally suck when it comes to giving and receiving road directions. Lucky for me, i don't fall in that category. I take pride in my sense of direction.
Anyway, the other day while sitting in Suilin's car, i saw this particular road sign. See, let me describe the scenario :
We were facing SOUTH on the road, which means if you take any of south highway, you're gonna end up in Singapore (the last place before the sea).
And there it was, the magical road sign saying :
"TAPAH 129 KM"
Tapah is sorta like a pit stop before you head into Ipoh or Cameron Highlands which is... NORTH(headed towards Penang if you suck in geography). That means, from our position, Tapah is BEHIND us. Why on earth did they place the sign towards the south then!? NOBODY's going to ever reach Tapah that way!
So if you're new to Kuala Lumpur, you're gonna get so damn lost.

quiet weekend
Originally, i didn't plan to go anywhere AND do nothing during the weekend. But my friends demanded my presence and company, so i did what i could do : oblige them.
hehe
Anyway, saturday was spent in Wayne's house after some "last minute" plan and invitiation. It was just a "small" gathering and some boooze and Taboo. People was supposed to start "gathering" at 10-ish, that is, according to the host, but you can always count on Malaysians to be late.
Typically late.
And the owner of the house wasn't even in..his house....
Wayne just left the house to me and wong (that's coz we're idiots for being there early) while he went to pick people up that stays at the far end of the earth. Yup. We're in a house party where the owner goes off. I can't believe he trusted us not to trash the place upside down.
And he didn't return till about...1 1/2 hours later. Or maybe it was 2. hehe NOBODY MISSED YOU ANYWAY WAYNE!
So basically that's it. Mingling around with high school friends that lost contact. Playing Taboo when it's guys VS girls (and there were more girls too). Unfortunately for us, the guys voices were louder and amplified after the booze, which resulted in the monitor only hearing THEIR voices. Thus leaving us in the losing end just because they shriek louder than girls. tsk tsk
But it was enjoyable. I would choose these kind of gatherings over clubbing any given time.
Oh my, i'm such an indoor person. =(

The Food
To occupy my time, i mostly lurked in the eating area where Club Med serves a variety of international cuisines, along with house wines and beer. I definetely put on weight because i ate lots of red meat with minimum vegetables/fruit. Not to mention the alcohol...anyway, let's start off with breakfast.
2 fried eggs, 2 scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. Not very healthy i know. I should have cut off the croissant. I helped myself to 2 servings by the way.
They also serve other stuff during breakfast :
Yoghurt and cheese?
cereal
who the heck eats pasta for breakfast??
So that's breakfast. Now for lunch.
Spagetti, mashed potatoes, kimchi, beef, lamb and pork. Bad combination. Of course, you can always opt for a more...asian cuisine instead :
This looks like the "economy rice". Note : this is NOT my plate. Do you think i'll eat something like this when i can have....
STEAK!! Oh boy, i had 3 of these. In one sitting. I guess i was that hungry. And as for dessert....
an array of pretty looking cakes
butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies and cream caramel!
Fatty stuff eh? We decided to try dinner at another dining area next to the beach. The setting was very nice, with the cool breezy wind blowing and the constant humming of the waves. Enough to put you to sleep instead.
Salad prawns, some unidentifiable thing, and sashimi.
i can only recognize the mussels. i have no idea what the other 2 dishes are.
yummm... grilled prawns and baby lobster with black olives!
Well, if you're a health freak, then no worries. You can always eat this instead
bleh....
That's a wrap!

Part 2
Read the post below to understand this continuation.
Right, beach pictures. Here's how i felt at the beach :
See? I'm under the shade, so i'm happy.
10 seconds later, as i took 2 steps backwards ....
oh no i can feel the sun now...
A further 10 steps...
Yeah you can see by my expression i'm not very happy now am i? I don't fancy getting pigmentation all over my face, so i rushed off to the comfort of my room.
..where i spent most of my time in the AIR CON, sleeping away. But enough about that, before i move on to the food, i'll just rush through the activities available.
 trapezz anyone?
Now, i'm not a watersport person, so i stuck to the landsports instead. Which resulted in an aching body due to excercising my limbs after a lifetime of being lazy.
You know, the stupid targets were only 15 meters away, yet i still can miss it. I hit everything but the target, including the wooden legs. And the arrow got stuck there. I can't even pull it out. Talk about a bad aim.
Nobody ever uses this table because it's directly under the sun.
Besides that, there wa badminton, basketball, tennis and golf. What fun!
Just a glimpse of what i did when i'm free, or bored.
After all, it's what i do best :D

I'm back!
So, i went and spent the long weekend ALONG with hundreds of other people outside of Malaysia. And boy, i'm never gonna go travelling during public holidays ever again. I'll just start with my trip on Friday. If you didn't know, i went to Club Med in Ria bintan, indonesia.
Due to some BAD planning, we reached Singapore at 4.30 AM. And due to some miscommunication, we thought the ferry departs for Ria Bintan at 9Am, so by 7.30, we took a cab to the ferry terminal. TURNS OUT THAT THE STUPID FERRY LEAVES AT 11.30 !!!!!!!!!! Good god, can you count the hours we wasted DOING absolutely NOTHING but waiting for time to pass??
After what seemed like ages, we finally boarded the ferry. And i tell you, i hate it. I tried not to vomit my guts out during the hour ride, and i think i passed out due to the constant rocking back and forth. At one point, the ferry was rocking so badly that i heard lots of people retching and babies crying and i thought we're gonna sink. The captain must have thought we'll go on a murderous rampage and he tried to calm us down by saying "we'll reach the island in another 20 minutes, so please stay calm and enjoy the ride".
Right whatever, i just wanted to get out of the boat.
my view from the boat. As you can see, i can't see anything nice except the name of the ferry.
The boat about to dock at the Ria Bintan resort
Once we reached the island, we had to take a bus to actually reach Club Med. Thankfully, it was only about a 20 minute ride.
The layout of the resort. We're staying at the rooms marked "S". Can you find it?
One thing though, i've never been more grateful for the invention of air conditioning. I'm not cut out for hot sunny weather . =(
At the hotel room, i am greeted by this :
hehe my disposal eh!?
The pool is nice and clear. Too bad i can't swim
Just looking at the pictures i took makes me feel sweaty already. I never thought i'd say i miss Malaysian fickle weather instead.
i sorta had a nice view of..the..endless...boring..sea
Yeah yeah you guys wanna see the beach right?? Once you've seen a beach, you've seen them all. I just don't appreciate the hot blistering sand, (or sand flies), the vengeful sun trying to roast you alive, or salt water getting into your eyes.
rows of cute little huts
Ok i was actually hopping from one hut to another just to avoid the sun. I probably looked like an idiot doing that as well. Luckily for me, the beach was *almost* empty so nobody could see my antics. To shield myself from the sun further, i rented some towels to wrapped myself up like an arab. And i ain't gonna post a picture of that. The towel happened to be blue, and according to my cousins, i looked like a smurf from afar walking awkardly. Yeesh.
more to come later : food pictures and some random ones. Unless you want to see how my room looks like or something.
